Railway Sleepers

Suitable for a wide variety of landscaping projects, railway sleepers (traditionally reclaimed) have always been a popular choice due to their appearance, strength and versatility.

Traditionally their uses were mainly agricultural and included bay construction, retaining walls and other heavy duty applications. However, the imagination of many of our popular garden design television programmes has now established the sleeper a key ingredient in a wide range of horticultural and hard landscaping projects.

We supply 3 types of sleepers, all of which have their own benefits and uses -

New Softwood
Reclaimed Hardwood
New Hardwood.

The use of new softwood sleepers is now over-taking reclaimed sleepers in popularity due to their availability, ease of handling, cutting and their wide variety of uses such as raised planting beds (as illustrated opposite), vegetable beds, garden edgings, rustic steps, bridges and pathways.

New Softwood

The dimensions are normally 2600mm x 225mm x 120mm or 2600mm x 245mm x 120mm - please check on size of available sleepers before ordering.

Pack quantities are 24 on both sizes and full loads quantities are 480 and 528 pieces respectively.

Reclaimed Hardwood

Either in oak or beech, ideally suited to hard landscaping projects such as retaining walls, shed bases driveway edgings and raised flower beds.

The dimensions are normally 2600mm x 220mm x 130mm, but will vary from time to time - please check on size of available sleepers before ordering.

Pack quantities will also vary but are either 20 or 24, with full loads of between 336 and 420 depending on the size Either in oak or beech, ideally suited to hard landscaping projects such as retaining walls, shed bases driveway edgings and raised flower beds.

New Hardwood

Manufactured from fresh sawn timber, these oak sleepers are ideally suited to both hardlandscaping projects and garden features, including raised flower and vegetable beds, steps, bridges and even rustic benches or seating areas.

The dimensions are normally 2600mm x 260mm x 150mm, but will vary from time to time - please check on size of available sleepers before ordering.

Pack quantities will also vary but are either 20 or 24, with full loads between 260 and 336 pieces.
